Formal Wedding Officiant Services
Hi! I'm Wedding Officiant Victoria Meyer. I have been officiating weddings at venues throughout the Indianapolis area for over a decade. I have the experience you need to help your formal wedding ceremony to run smoothly.
I have packages starting at just $250.
I have packages starting at just $250.
What Is A Formal Wedding Ceremony?
I offer several different wedding officiant services at several different prices.
I define a formal ceremony by where you are getting married and how much time you need me to be there.
A formal wedding usually means you are getting married in a formal venue or you are having a big wedding on your own private property or something similar.
A Formal wedding has a time line.
That means you will be walking down the aisle at a scheduled time.
My formal wedding ceremony package has me arriving at least 45 minutes before your scheduled start time.
I want to make sure I have time to perform a sound check before your guests start arriving and are being seated.
I also want time to say hello and sign your marriage license before the ceremony because you will be busy afterward!
I'm very reasonable when it comes to choosing a package. If we talk and it really sounds like all you need is for me to arrive 15 minutes early and perform a ceremony, I will recommend the $150 package. Some couples choose formal venues on an off day to have a small ceremony or have a rather informal backyard wedding. If you are having an actual formal wedding, you are going to want your officiant to arrive before you are lining up to walk down the aisle!

What I include in my formal wedding ceremony packages.
Meetings.
I'm happy to schedule a phone call, zoom, or in-person meeting to make sure we are a good fit. I understand planning a formal wedding ceremony is a big deal and you want to find the right person for you! A zoom call or phone call closer to your wedding day is usually a good idea too. It depends on your comfort level. Email always works too!
I will arrive 45 Minutes Early.
I schedule my time very wisely and give myself plenty of time to get to your wedding. But, traffic happens. I want to make sure I'm early, everything is in order and you know I'm there!
You have an hour to actually get married.
I have the possibility you might be running late built into my schedule.
This has nothing to do with the actual length of your ceremony. Ceremony length varies by couple.
We sign the marriage license.
Every legal marriage requires a marriage license.
You are required to obtain the license from your county clerk yourself.
The signed license needs to be returned to clerk within 30 days of your wedding.
I'm happy to marry you earlier if you need to be legally married before your formal wedding day.
If you are already legally married, I'm happy to keep that secret for you.
I have a civil ceremony services where couples come into my office daily to get legally married in secret!
If your license was issued by the Marion County Clerk, I'm happy to return the license for you in person and mail you two certified copies. If your license was issued in a different county, I'm happy to mail it for you. You are always welcome to return the marriage license yourself.
A Wedding Ceremony Script.
I have many wedding ceremony scripts to choose from. All they need is a little tweaking to make them yours. You can choose one of my ceremonies and edit it any way you like. Sometimes it's as easy as changing names and pronouns, sometimes you want to add your own personal touch and include your own vows.
Here is a collection of my formal wedding ceremonies to choose from.
Many couples see the one they want right away and that's it! Some couples want the opportunity to write their own script. You are welcome to do that! Basic, traditional unity ceremonies are included!
If you would each like to write a statement about what you love each other and send them to me separately, I'm happy to include that in your ceremony at the basic $250 cost. I will read them un-edited.
I offer a higher priced package if you would like to work together to personalize your script.
Please note: This does not include me attending the rehearsal.

$250 Formal Wedding Ceremony
This basic service is my most popular option. This price does not include the rehearsal. Often couples will have a wedding planner or day of event coordinator they hire, or are included with their venue. That person will actually run your rehearsal. I price it lower than the local industry average because I try to respect your budget! You may prefer to spend your money on your coordinator instead. If you are having a rehearsal, it is a good idea to have your officiant attend, but it's not always necessary.
Some couples don't have a wedding party or their wedding party is experienced and one more rehearsal really isn't necessary so You may also choose not to have a rehearsal at all. It's all about your comfort level.
I'm happy to offer you a guide to setting up your own wedding rehearsal.
You might want to make sure your parents know this... I had a very upset father or the bride the day of the wedding and I didn't want to sound rude saying "They didn't hire me for the rehearsal." The wedding was at Avon Gardens and they always do a great job at rehearsals so the ceremony procession was on point!
This option is very popular with couples getting married at Valle Vista in Greenwood. They take care of everything!
It is not uncommon for a couple to book this options online, choose a ceremony when booking, and I meet them for the first time at the wedding.
Payment is due in full when you book.
$100 of your payment is non-refundable.
If you cancel your wedding more than 30 days in advance, I will refund $150.

A wedding ceremony with a rehearsal is what usually considered a traditional wedding ceremony package.
I will arrive 15 minutes early for your rehearsal and either organize and run the rehearsal or work with the person who is.
A $150 non-refundable down payment is due to save your date and time.
The $250 balance is due 30 days before your wedding.

$550 A Fully Personalized Wedding Ceremony And Rehearsal
The package includes a personalized wedding ceremony script and a rehearsal.
My method of personalizing your ceremony script is to work with you to make the script your own. It can include writing your love story and any other personal elements you'd like to include. I ask a list of questions and help to narrow down options and we go back and forth until you are completely happy with the script.
Some couples just choose this option so they don't have to worry about anything. I will do it all for them. They want a professional to choose and perform the right script.

The Fine Print
I only book weddings up to one year in advance - Maybe 13 months. We are a family business and want to make sure we make time for ourselves. Once a wedding is booked, we schedule everything else around it. Feel free to contact me ahead of time to ask any questions and be first on the list to book.
What’s not included. I am very happy to be as excited about your wedding ceremony and wedding ceremony script as you are, however, there are some things that I no longer offer. I am open and genuinely interested in every religion and how each person relates to God. I am open to all people and I support each couple in any way they choose to get married. That does not mean that I’m the best person to marry you. I want you to understand that I’m an online ordained minister and experienced professional wedding officiant. I have a very strong Christian background but I am neither a religious person nor associated with any mainline church, therefore, I have chosen not to perform certain religious ceremonies. They include:
Full Christian ceremonies. I specialize in secular and mildly religious, non-denominational ceremonies. If you are looking for a Christian ceremony with a bible-based sermon and/or holy communion, please find an actual pastor. I’m very happy to include prayers, blessings, bible readings, and Christian unity ceremonies in your wedding ceremony. I also regularly mix Christian and Jewish elements into wedding ceremonies for couples. I LOVE that. I respect religion enough not to pretend to be something I’m not.
Pagan ceremonies. I am not a pagan. I do not know a lot about paganism. I am happy to perform modified handfastings and wedding ceremonies with pagan elements (I have some GREAT scripts!) but if you want a full Pagan wedding ceremony with the calling in of the elements and traditional wording, please find a person more suited to do that. I can act the part but I do not feel like I can provide an authentic experience.
Communication
Meetings. These can be in person or via video chat. Generally, what works best for most couples is to have the first meeting is in person and the second meeting as a phone call. You can decide what’s best for you. In-person meetings are held in my office on Monument Circle. Zoom has made meetings so much easier! If you never want a meeting that’s OK too! Everything can be, and often is, accomplished by email. Every couple and every wedding is different.
Communication is incredibly important to me. It is my goal to respond immediately or as soon as possible. Life is not perfect. If I receive an email and cannot respond immediately, I will let you know when I can.
I use a scheduling app that keeps my business on track. It includes a messaging service. It’s like email, but it doesn’t have all the functions of email. I can’t put two emails into one account and you can’t send attachments. I use Google document set to share/edit for your ceremony and you can edit the document any way you like - either directly or with the comment function. It works really well for most couples and we can bring up the document on a tablet or phone at any time. If you want to both be copied on correspondence, we can start a regular email chain. If you prefer not to use Google Docs, you are welcome to use another format and email it to me as an attachment. I use victorialmeyer@gmail.com for my correspondence.
It is optimal if we can maintain one email chain in one place if at all possible. Thank you!! My scheduling app accepts and keeps track of payments and sends automatic receipts.
Phone Calls. I request we schedule phone calls so you can have my full attention and I can be prepared to answer any questions you might have. It can be as simple as texting and asking if it’s a good time to talk. If it isn’t I will let you know when is. My phone number is (317)403-7379. I’m a full-time wedding officiant and spend many workdays in my office performing quick civil ceremonies. I’m also a mom. Your call is important but I might be busy!
Texting. You can text me at any time. (317)403-7379. My regular hours are 8 - 8 daily and my phone is set to “do not disturb” at other times. I won’t hear your text, but it probably won’t take me too long to see it. If you text or email outside those hours, it may take time for me to get back to you. If you text me at a crazy hour of the night and I see it right away, I’ll text back right away, otherwise, I will probably wait until after 8 am so I don’t wake anyone. You can let me know it’s OK to text you back at weird hours and I’m happy to do so.
Social Media Messages. Please don’t send me business messages through the private messenger functions on Facebook or Instagram. It’s easier to keep track of all of our conversations if we stick to email and texting. One email chain is perfect!
Legal marriage and your marriage license. Each couple must obtain their own marriage license in accordance with Indiana state laws. I maintain a website with an excellent overview of how to get married in Indiana. I’m regularly in the Marion County Clerk’s office and am familiar with the procedures of the surrounding counties. You can view that website here: https://howtogetmarriedinindy.com/.
We can complete your marriage license at your rehearsal, on the day of your wedding, or any time leading up to your wedding. If you are already legally married in secret - or not, I’m very happy to perform a formal wedding ceremony for you and keep your secret. You may be planning your wedding for over a year and halfway through realize you need to be legally married for a really good reason. We can arrange to have you come by my office and have a quick “I do” and signature. This is a very common occurrence.
I am happy to return your marriage license for you after your wedding. If the license was issued in Marion County, I will return the license for you in person and mail you two certified copies. If the license was issued in another county, I’m happy to mail it for you. You are always welcome and encouraged to return your own marriage license in person whenever possible.
I will be the person officiating your wedding. I will not subcontract your wedding to anyone else.
If there is an emergency and I will be physically unable to perform your wedding you will be notified immediately and I will do everything within my power to find a suitable replacement to perform the already agreed upon ceremony. If I am unable to find a replacement, you will still have the agreed-upon ceremony to use any way you wish.
An “emergency” is a last-minute occurrence. If an emergency should occur, your ceremony document should already be complete and fully detailed that close to your wedding day and anyone should be able to pick it up and perform it. If I am unable to find a replacement I will also refund the amount you have already paid me.
