Many couples in Indiana are finding themselves looking for a wedding officiant. For many couples, a free wedding officiant would be great!
So, where can I find the cheapest wedding Officiant in Indiana?
I created the cheapest wedding service in Indiana 5 years ago. It’s my $50 Quickie Wedding. I’ve married thousands of couples and my cheap, basic wedding service is still going strong. I meet you at Starbucks in Fishers and sign your marriage license. I’m available every day from 7 am - 9 pm. You can schedule up to a week in advance online or call for a same day appointment. If you work late or early or need to travel a distance, this is the convenient service for you.
There are several reasons you might be looking for a cheap and easy wedding officiant:
The reason I only charge $50 for my basic service is that I’m only giving you the basics. I’m doing exactly what it takes to get you legally married and nothing more. You get what you pay for.
There are several things that make my little $50 Quickie Wedding a great deal.
So where can I find a free wedding Officiant in Indiana?
You probably already know someone who is an ordained minister. You can qualify as a wedding officiant in Indiana if you are an ordained minister. Just about anyone can get ordained online for free and officiate a wedding. Yep, it’s true, anyone can do it for free. The only thing you need to pay for is a certified copy of your ordination certificate. But you don’t need to show it to the clerk’s office before you marry a couple. You only need to have a copy of it if someone asks for it.
You can’t get ordained to marry yourself but if you can get someone you know to get ordained so they can sign your marriage license and you are legally married!
Just because your friend can marry you, that doesn’t mean they want to marry you. It also might not them to marry you.
As simple as it sounds, and as easy as it actually is, it doesn’t mean you want to take the actual responsibility of marrying someone.
There are several reasons why may you not want the responsibility of marrying your friends for free.
You are singing a legal document. A lot can be riding on a person being legally married. You want to make sure it’s done right, and if something goes wrong you want to make sure you can fix it. It’s not hard, but are you comfortable contacting the county clerk’s office and asking for help fixing a problem?
I once married a couple who said: I have a friend that’s ordained, he could have married us, but he’s a crackhead, I didn’t think it was worth the risk.
Is marrying your friends going to ruin your friendship? We’re talking about a cheap, easy, legal wedding, not a big, formal ceremony, just the cheapest wedding service. Is everyone OK with the marriage? Are you going to be mad at each other if it doesn’t work out?
If you know your friends are getting married for a green card are you OK with that? What if immigration comes back around questioning their marriage? Are you all comfortable saying “Yes, I believed they entered into this marriage in good faith.”
Is your friend going to be available when you actually want and need them to sign the papers? This is the biggest problem I’ve seen with having a friend marry you. You’d be surprised the calls I get. Their friend said they would do it, they just can’t do it now and don’t really know when they will be able to.
Ok, so maybe you don’t want to have your friend marry you for free. So what exactly are you paying for when you hire a professional wedding officiant in Indy, even a cheap one?
Hopefully, when you choose someone to marry you, you choose someone with experience and a solid track record showing that experience. If something goes wrong, will they be there to help you fix the problem?
Hopefully, the person that you hire to marry you know the Indiana marriage laws and procedures well.
Even if someone doesn’t have years of experience, do they know what they’re doing? Anyone can sign a paper. If every time you ask a question they say “I don’t know, you need to call the clerk’s office” you might want to find someone else. While it can strip them of any liability by not answering questions, it’s really not that complicated, legally or otherwise. Saying “I’m not sure, let me find out” isn’t too much to ask for if it’s a basic question.
Of course, it it’s something more personal or uncommon, you might have to contact the clerk’s office yourself. For example, can I use my foreign driver’s license as ID? Turns out, you can. As long as it’s legally translated. I don’t have a visa to legally be in the US. Can I still get married? Yes, as long as you can prove who you are, visa status has nothing to do with it. (At least as of right now, as I’m writing this)
I have a long track record. If something goes wrong, I know how to fix it, and I will. I’m highly invested in my business and doing it right matters to me, not only because I don’t want my business reputation tarnished, but because I have personal integrity. If I say I’m going to do something, I do it.
